Jayess Newbiggin Brass Band Trombone
Dennis Todd
Principal Cornet
Playing experience
Many, many years! From 8 years old up to 57 years old I played in the Salvation Army with Newbiggin SA, then Bedlington SA, both as Principal Cornet. I then moved from the Salvation Army to Greggs Bakery Band, before spending short spells at Ashington Band and Felling Band. I then spent 15 years in the Principal Cornet seat at Easington Colliery Band before joining Jayess Newbiggin.
Favourite piece
'Light of the World' by Dean Goffin
'Just As I Am' by Wilfred Heaton
Worst piece
'Prague' by Judith Bingham

Favourite banding moment
Playing in the National Finals, sections 1 to 4.
Playing with Versatile Brass as Principal Cornet.
Touring Norway with Bedlington Salvation Army.
I also particularly remember playing in the Gala Concert on a Saturday evening in a packed Brighouse Methodist Church with Greggs Band and Easington Colliery. The final one is with Easington Colliery, playing the cornet solo 'How Great Thou Art' in memory of two brass icons from the Huddersfield area, it was very, very moving.
